Jazz pianist Linton Garner, elder brother of jazz pianist Erroll Garner, played in the Fletcher Henderson orchestra in the early 1940s. He worked as a composer, arranger and pianist with musicians such as Billy Eckstine, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis. Garner moved to Vancouver in 1974 where he performed at the Four Seasons Hotel, The Three Greenhorns, and Rossini's.
