Born in Edmonton on October 15, 1923, Pearl Brown was the youngest sister of Eleanor Collins and aunt of Jimi Hendrix. An actress in local productions including plays and musicals by Vancouver Little Theatre Association, Theatre Under the Stars, and Totem Theatre in the 1940s and 50s, Pearl Brown blossomed as a jazz vocalist in the late 1980s and 90s, collaborating with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis during his visits to British Columbia. A collection of their performances together can be heard on "Goin' Down Home" (West Wind), released in 1999. Pearl Brown passed away in September of 1996 (exact date unknown).
